Small Infrastructures

[W]Edge ADU is one of nine invited projects for Small Infrastructures, "an exhibition and symposium of ADU designs that uses the economics of building assembly as the groundwork for experimentation....the exhibition gathers architects teaching at Harvard GSD and CED to consider the overlaps between academia...and practice".

Small Infrastructures opened at UC Berkeley in Bauer Wurster Hall in early 2022, travelled to SPUR in San Francisco at the end of the year, and to Helms Bakery Design District in Culver City in 2023.

Drawing Codes II: Miami, UVA, UW, CCA

IwamotoScott's drawing "Double Vision" was shown as part of the invited exhibition, Drawing Codes, Volume II: Experimental Protocols of Architectural Representation.

After opening at The Cooper Union in 2019, the exhibition travelled to University of Miami, University of Virginia School of Architecture, University of Washington in Seattle and back to California College of the Arts, where it closed at Hubbel Street Galleries in 2021. A publication on the exhibition is forthcoming.

Drawing Codes II: Cooper Union

IwamotoScott produced the drawing "Double Vision" for the invited exhibition, Drawing Codes, Volume II: Experimental Protocols of Architectural Representation. This exhibition, the second volume in a series organized by the CCA Digital Craft Lab, features experimental drawings by architects who explore the impact of new technologies on the relationship between code and drawing: how rules and constraints inform the ways we document, analyze, represent, and design the built environment. The exhibition opened at the Cooper Union, January 22 2019.

Architectural Pavilions: Experiments and Artifacts

IwamotoScott were invited to participate in this group exhibition held at the Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco and curated by Mariah Nelson. The exhibition addressed architecture’s physical and collaborative processes through the presentation of digital and handmade pavilions by seven architectural studios: Carmody Groarke; Do/Su Studio Architecture; IwamotoScott; Jay Nelson; Materials & Applications; SITU Studio; Warren Techentin Architecture. Lisa Iwamoto led a group of UC Berkeley students to fabricate and install the pavilion. Called "Hover", it was formed of two mirrored structures made from interlocking folded sheet metal modules: one structure was grounded and suspended its twin, allowing it to mysteriously hover in mid air.

Past Futures, Present, Futures

IwamotoScott's nCathedrals invited drawing was produced for the group exhibition, "Past Futures, Present, Futures", a series of reenactments of past visionary NYC projects, exhibited at the Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York City. In collaboration with Benjamin Rice, for our project, nCathedrals, we used a scripting process to create a drawing that reenacts/reinterprets the floor plan Frank Lloyd Wright's unbuilt visionary NYC project "Steel Cathedral for a Million People".
